First European win for James at Industrials

Strawberry Racing’s James Thorp (Tonykart/Vortex) enjoyed his first international win at the weekend, when he took a lights-to-flag victory in the second and final round of the Industrial Trophy, held on consecutive weekends at Parma in Italy.

Traditionally the races where drivers try out new classes before the start of the new season, James had moved up into the senior KF2 class after his third place in the junior KF3 European Championship back in September.

Thorp on his way to Sarno against the odds

James Thorp overcame a flying kart and a mistaken exclusion to qualify for the grand finals of the European Junior Karting Championship. At Essay in Normandy, France, James was competing against the best from the UK, France, Portugal and Spain for one of only 25 places in the finals, to be held at Sarno, Italy on September 2nd.

Thorp second at the Winter Cup

Evesham’s James Thorp took Italy by storm at the weekend with a second place finish in the season-opening Winter Cup at Lonato near Lake Garda. The Kings Worcester student races in the British and European Junior kart championships for the Strawberry Racing team using a Tonykart chassis and a Vortex engine.
